OMG.. finally a signing or something like that
By: nicholas | February 29th, 2008I guess my bitching about a lack of signings from GM Mo has done some good. The upper management up at MLSE saw what i had written in my last post and decided to take action. So in less than 24hrs, Toronto FC has signed a Canadian Midfielder.
OK .. this is a good move in the write direction but there needs to be some serious moves coming up because Coach Mo needs to sign 8 players in 30 days in order to have a complete roster. ( are you starting to see why i am little agitated about the lack of movement.)
SO ………………… DRUM ROLL PLEASE

Toronto FC has signed Kevin Harmse………. I know not the most vogue of choices but hey THE MAN IS CANADIAN ( CHECK) … PLAYS MIDFIELD ( CHECK ) , ADDS DEPTH ( check ) and plus he is not a bad midfielder actually… ( he is basically a Roy Keane type midfielder … less talent ).
Kevin Harsme was born in British Columbia. Kevin Harmse was drafted by the Vancouver Whitecaps in 2002 but transferred to Tromsø I.L. in the Norwegian Premier League (Tippeligaen). He did not see much playing time, so he returned to the Whitecaps in 2004, where he gradually worked himself to become a cornerstone of the Whitecaps defense, playing in 36 games and scoring once.
Harmse’s most recent display was an 5-3 loss to Australian side Sydney FC on November 27, 2007 in which Harmse was sent off after collecting two yellow cards, one for a crude hack[1] on Juninho Paulista and a second for stomping on Adam Biddle’s arm as he lay on the ground after a tackle. ( AND FOR THOSE THAT DID NOT SEE IT HERE IT IS )
Other TFC NEWS.
LA galaxy is so far over the cap that they are basically bleeding talent. A player that i would be really interested in would be ante Jazic. He basically fits the credentials for a perfect TFC player. Canadian, Defender, Wing Back and he would be an automatic in the starting eleven for opening day.
Tyler Hemming has been selected for Canadian Olympic U-23 team. ( I personally wish he luck).

I hope you get Jazic except he’s a defender right? And you’re good in that dept? Sorry if I’m wrong with that synopsis. Unforch, he’s out for a bit of the season recovering from whatever surgery but you should just grab him anyways cause he’s super awesome.

Harmse will add some much needed BALLS to your teams play. Good addition. Just make sure coach watches his temper . . .

Jazic would be good depth, but not much more. D is TFC’s strong point, and Jazic would NOT start on opening day because a) not better than the starting back 4; b) he’s got a long term injury.

So stoked for Harmse. He tackles like nobody’s business, which is something we were lacking with our holding mids last season.

There’s some quality Canadian talent languishing over in Europe. I hope guys like Matt Lam, Marc Bircham, and Oliver Occean sign on to TFC. What about Hargreaves, from Man Utd, someday?

The Gals ARE shopping Jazic - quote from Billy Witz:
What the Galaxy’ve been up to - they’d been trying to trade Jazic to Columbus for Tim Ward, but when they kept vacillating, Columbus sent Ward to Colorado… And since everyone knows the Galaxy is having to dump guys, most teams are just waiting until they’re put on the waiver wire Monday

Not sure if you guys want Jazic, he’s really injured and will be that way for several months. Not a good pick this year for TFC starting XI

I always really liked Harmse. I’m not anti-violence. You just have to be smart about it. Like don’t do it when the cameras are rolling.

Speaking of transfers a couple of UK papers are saying that TFC is interested in Liam Miller and Wallace of Sunderland.

These would be amazing signings and I for one am also stoked about kiki musampa coming back after ditching us thinking he could get more money but he’s back and i’d be happy to see him as part of the Reds.
