TFC Continues to Recycle, Todd Dunivant and Collin Samuel Newest Additions
By: Sam | June 27th, 2007
So that’s about three quarters of the MLS population that’s been under contract with Toronto at some point or another. Yesterday, Mo made a few moves and landed us two new players, a defender and a striker.
Leaving Toronto FC for New York is Kevin Goldthwaite, who apparently is paying the price for the bad game he played last weekend against New England, and in return, we’re getting the slick Todd Dunivant.
Also, as foreseen within the past few weeks, Trinidad & Tobago international striker Collin Samuel has also signed a contract after training with the team for a little while.
That was fact, now this is opinion.
I liked Goldthwaite! Yeah, he had a few really bad games, but all the others were excellent. He was always there to make the crosses and came back very well. Then again, Dunivant is an international (two caps, suck on it) and also has a significant bit of experience in the league. When you look at it, just a pretty simple trade.
It’s worth noting that Dunivant has two assists with the US national team… I just wanted to say that.
And to be completely honest with you, I barely know anything about Samuel, but I do like his last name, and anyone who was on the pitch with T&T against Sweden on that lovely June afternoon in Germany last year deserves respect. Besides, he didn’t play in the other matches, which the Soca Warriors lost. Coincidence? I think not.
Mo seems to like him a whole lot, and I trust his judgment. They should both be rarin’ and ready to go against Kansas City on Sunday. Until then!
