TFC - today so far

The Injury Report
The injury bug has seemed to be taken its first casuality of the season. ( and the naysayers cannot blame the BMO bitch). It seams that a very light tackle from Juan Pablo Angel was alot more serius than first anticipated. It seams our number one draft pick Julius James has seperated his shoulder. To what degree is not really known but during my research a shoulder injury can range from 3 weeks to 3 months depending on severity. Lets hope for Julius sake that he didn’t suffer the latter.

THE COLOMBIAN TRIALLIST

In a reserve game agaisnt San jose earthquakes on last sunday was the very first time that Toronto FC brass was able to see the two colombians up close. And from the reports coming out of Columbus, it seams that Coach Carver was not at all impressed with either of them. If you had seen the first game of the tournament you would have at least seen Pacheco play for the first half and then swiftly yanked from the game in the first half. Based on the reports that i am hearing, i would not hold my breath on either of them getting signed anytime soon.

Roster changes and TFC

Mo Johnston lobbied hard with the league to reduce the Canadian content because there allegedly wasn’t enough Canadian talent. TFC picked up two extra non-Canadian slots, which appeared to have been used to sign a Puerto Rican out of the USL Division 1 and a Kiwi who previously played in USL Div. 2:

No offense to those players, who I hope to well in Toronto now that they’ve officially signed with us, but this just serves to prove what a magnificent sham that whole move to change the roster regulations was.

There was a report on the voyagers website that substantiates my sentiment. It was IM message with previous TFC goalkeaper Srdjan Djekanovic ……link

Earlier in the year i provided the same sentiment, but i was considered crazy

Here is the current roster … ( i would honestly like your opinion on what you like and what you hate about it )

I think it is premature to conclude what the two extra international spots are being used for. Sure we’ve got some bodies in there right now, but its pretty obvious that Mo isn’t finished with this roster, given the cap room and allocation money he has left.

There are lots of things not to like at this point, given that we’ve got huge holes in midfield, but I believe that we will see those filled before the summer.

I believe it is safe to say it at this point: Rosenlund screwed up. Last year he was a junior who had won the NCAA title and had a Gen Adidas deal offered to him with the anticipation he’d go to TFC. Instead he trialed with 2nd division Swedish teams to play in ‘Europe’. Now he’s with TFC at a dev salary that is much less than what that Gen A deal was. Any one else remember this?

For fans not in or around southern Ontario and not at the game this Saturday, where will you be watching?

I will ask at Finnegan’s in Florence (yes, Italy) if they will show the game.

    Anyone else? Other locations?
