Toronto win and draw the same game, then definitely lose another
By: Sam | February 20th, 2007
It’s official: Toronto FC has won 3-0 and drawn 1-1 to the Canadian U-20s, in the same game of course.
TFC’s official website originally stated that the game had ended in a 1-1 draw. Not bad, you know how training camp is, trying new things, I mean, it’s not like I saw the game, but anyway that’s that.
Apparently not, later, on the same official website, it was 3-0 for Toronto. Goals from Marco Reda and Miguel Canizales, as well as a CNT own goal supposedly provided the goals.
Today, according to the Toronto Sun, another match ended in a 2-1 decision to the youth internationals. In that alledged game, the Tos Ricketts and Christian Nunez scored for Canada and Chris Pozniak got the consolation for TFC.
Due to the frightful unreliability of Toronto’s official website, it’s hard to get info in training camp. But one thing is certain: We’re not undefeated anymore! Our great history is flawed! Now I know what it’s like to be any team in the world.
In other news: South African Junaid Hartley, Jamaican Garfield Reid and Colombian Hector Hurtado (the latter two despite scoring and assisting in exhbition matches) were cut by Mo Johnston, the man saying their skills were not sufficient to play with the pro team.
Toronto’s #1 draft pick, Maurice Edu, will be out for four-to-six weeks after fracturing his pelvis. Ouch, ’nuff said.
