2009 Kits Revealed!
By: Colman | July 17th, 2008This past weekend, representatives from adidas travelled around sports stores in the GTA to present the designs for next year’s TFC kit. Luckily, a fan with a cellphone camera managed to catch a glimpse at the ProImage in Bramalea:

1. Collar…I don’t mind, but get used to people at BMO who feel the need to pop it.
2. The MLS patch on the right sleeve is much bigger than in the past, and there is apparently a similarly sized Maple Leaf on the left sleeve.
3. Though it is hard to see, there is a maple leaf “ghosted” behind the BMO on the front of the jersey.
4. The BMO is HUGE.
5. There is a lot of grey on the shoulders, similar to this year’s practice shirts.
6. I see something grey hanging behind this shirt, so I guess we’re sticking with grey for the away strip.
7. No more trimming at the sides.
8. Though it is hard to tell, it looks like the logo is crested, and no longer felt.
What do I think?? Well, it’s just one picture, but I like it. I will have to wait to see it in person though. I think the size of the BMO detracts from the jersey, while the collar adds to it. It’s possible that the ghosted maple leaf on the front could look tacky (like this ‘94 Man U kit with Old Trafford on it), but it may also look good, depending on how subtly it’s done.
It’s unlikely that these will be out any time soon. What we can possibly expect is a release in time for the last home game of the year. This is often done by European teams. Until then, we will have to be content by looking at the cellphone picture. Or we could just watch the games and let the marketing stuff take care of itself. Either one.

Love everything except the vertical stripes under the arms - this would be spot on if they left those out. Reminds me too much of the polo that is out this year. Agree on the Maple Leaf embossing - hope it doesn’t take away from the overall look.
Having said that, I’ll still be one of the first in line to buy one.

I agree, it must be seen in person but from I can make-out I’m not sure if I like it.
Colar - not a fan
Maple leaf on the front - looks like shit & why? Wasn’t it Canadian enough? ridiculous…Blue under the white stripes on the top of the sleeves - just plain ugly.. When did we get blue in our kits?
I know the kits are supposed to be changed up every two years, but why fuck with a good thing? I’ll be keeping my old jersey thanks!

70869413: If you did not want your picture to appear all over the internet, you should not have posted it on a Toronto FC Message Board. What did you expect? But I, for one, thank you very much for taking the picture, and I do not doubt that it is yours. When I posted it, I had only seen it on http://www.torfc.com, where no credit was given either, apart from mentioning that somebody took it with their cellphone. Do you want me to take it down?

Actually I first post this picture in a football shirt discussion forum. There are a lot of discussion about the 2009 MLS kits already, but no pic. Later at GoTFC I describe about the 2009 kit and I only send the link to the pic by pm to someone who ask for proof on the forum but then that guy make the pic public without my consent or proper credit. There is nothing I can do.

I can tell you that the Away shirt is grey, and the rest of the clothings on the rack are all new training shirts and pants and jackets. The Adidas rep warned me not to take picture so I just wanted to keep the picture private, but it is just too late now… It is ok that you keep the pic on your site.

Is 70869413 your birth name? If so, very original, though a bit hard to say. Ill just call ya 70mils!
Good find. And again, nice kit. We’ve come a long way since the days of the rainbow mess that was the Miami Fusion jerseys.

ahhhhhhhhhhh new kits.. let let me say this … 1.. the GREY HAS TO GO.. WHY U ASK GREY IS A SAD COLOR.. WHY NOT KEEP IT RED AND WHITE.. OR RED AND WHITE WITH BLACK.. AND THW AWAY SHIRT SHOULD BE WHITE AND RED AND BLACK OR BLACK AND WHITE AND RED.. SO LIKE THAT IT IS MUCH BETTER.. THE GREY KILLS THE JERSEY!!!!! and yea i like the color its nice but its kinda played out also.. who is designing the jersey’s for tfc man let me show you how too geeeeeeeez…hate that sad fucking grey crap.. where in the raptors and leafs and argos do you see fucking grey ah.. tfc is not grey.. dammit.. kill the grey i say down with the grey….

This is a horrible jersey, i hate the dark grey on the shoulders… i makes it look like a rugy jersey. I dont understand why Jose wants to lose the grey tho. He suggests they go with red, white and black. I often hear of tfc fans saying that they are not tean canada so having a red, white and black jersey would be exactly like team Canada’s jerseys.
Last thing who ever is designing kits for team Canada and this new tfc jersey sould be fired because they lack creativity. Ever jeresy that Canada gets is ugly. the only one that i like is home jersey they wore for 2006 WCQ. sorry to bring that up but this what the new tfc jersey looks like simply, plain and no effort put into it.Posted from
