Energy Drinks vs TFC Preview
By: Colman O'Meara | October 4th, 2008
Tomorrow night marks a historic occasion for TFC fans: It is the last time we will have to turn on our TVs, and already weary about TFC playing in New York (where we have never got a point), stare at pointyball lines for 90 minutes. As you may or may not know, the Dead Bulls are moving into a beautiful new stadium, which (although it isn’t actually in their state) will become the pride of all three of their fans.
Now I know that I claimed that this season was over after the tie with Houston, but sports fans are delusional by nature, so I’ve decided during the past week that we still have an outside shot. A TFC win coupled with a DC tie or loss at Chivas leaves us only 4 points out of the playoffs with 3 games to go. This means that we have reached the most important game of the season. Personally, I will honour the occasion by dragging myself out of my dorm and watching it at Shoeless Joe’s. Hope to see you there!
Without further ado, the expected starting XI:
Sutton - Wynne, Harmse, Marshall, Brennan - Freeman, Robinson, Guevara, Ricketts - Dichio, Barrett
Harmse gets a second shot at center back following his stable performance against Houston. There is even some discussion over whether this may be a better position for him than his usual holding midfield slot. If it goes pearshaped though, Marco Velez is available to come off the bench, and possibly give New York a repeat performance.
COME ON YOU REDS!!!

Wynne’s run and pass to Barrett for the second goal was awesome - one of our best goals this year.

Alan: agreed 100% - it was a great team effort. Robinson winning the ball, Dichio flicking it to Wynne, Wynne running the entire length of the field, drawing two defenders and the keeper, and then feeding Barrett for the tap in. Perfect counterattack.
Kelly: JJ has had an up and down year. He’s very dangerous when he gets up front, since he’s tall and has a great vertical leap – he’s scored a couple of goals with his head in limited playing time. However, he hasn’t really shown that he’s ready to be a fulltime defender, as he still makes mistakes too frequently at the back. I have lots of confidence though – he’s young, and he’ll improve.Posted from
