Expansion draft - Toronto edition
By: nicholas | November 24th, 2008With the expansion draft fast approaching, Toronto FC has been instructed by the league to protect the eleven players, that they figure to be important to the long term success of the club. So Super Mo and Mr Carver came together to decide who they need to protect and who is expendable.
So it came as no surprise that the likes of Carl Robinson, Amado Guevara and Chad Barrett being protected, but it came as a surprise to this blogger that the likes of Greg Sutton, Nana Attakora were not protected. It makes you wonder what John’s plans for next year are, are they willing to lose Greg Sutton and start Brian Edwards ( he was protected ), are they 100% sure that Danny Dichio is going to be here next year ( he has dropped major hints that he is considering retirement) and the status of Carl Robinson and the potential departure of Rohan Ricketts back to England.
Last year loss of Chris Pozinak had a bigger impact than what many had would have thought, because during his time in the Toronto Red, he played the part of Swiss army knife, his versatility was what set him apart from many of the other TFC players.
Anyway … here are the players that TFC could lose … is there anyone there that should be or should not be .

The Johann Smith thing is a shocker. He’s sure to get picked up.
