Let’s Shoot some Hoops!

By: Colman | August 2nd, 2008

It is with great joy that TFC fans reminisce about FC Dallas’ last (and only) visit to BMO Field. The 4-0 thrashing with which we sent them back to Texas on Fathers’ Day 2007 was (and is to date) the greatest margin of victory in TFC history. With the way things have been going of late however, I’m sure John Carver and the boys would be happy with any sort of win tomorrow.

The match (which is being played at 4:00 pm, contrary to what your schedule from the start of the season may be telling you) marks the debut of recent acquisition Chad Barrett. The trade was predictably delayed by Chicago in order to keep us shorthanded for the Salt Lake game, but Chad has been in training with the team for the past couple days and is proudly displaying his #19 shirt at the top of this post. He is billed as a very hard worker, who may not be the most prolific finisher. Any chance TFC could smuggle in his long lost twin instead? All joking aside, Barrett enters the TFC depth chart at #2 behind Amado Guevara (with Dichio injured). That leaves us with the following starting lineup (as per my educated guess):

Sutton – James, Velez, Marshall, Brennan – Ricketts, Guevara, Robinson, Robert – Barrett, Smith

Ibrahim gets a rest on the bench (unless we need a goal late), while Cunningham will hopefully not be seen anywhere near the field. A possibility at fullback is Nana Attakora-Gyan, though I like Julius James there, despite his defensive mistake which led to Salt Lake’s second goal. He looked quite solid until that error. Give him another shot imo.

This will mark my last TFC game until I get back from Munich in late August. As I mentioned in my last post, I’m going to do my best to live blog the games (home and away) which I will be missing from my laptop. Thanks to the awesomeness of the internet, I will be as caught up with TFC news and rumours as ever, and will be blogging about it every couple of days.

Come on you Reds!
