Lock up your Phone Books: Kyriakos Stamatopoulos is Here
By: Sam | August 3rd, 2007
As previously suspected, Mo Johnston made it public today that Toronto FC have agreed with Kyriakos “Kenny” Stamatopoulos on a two-year deal, with monetary terms of course not disclosed. It was a free loan, so no money was paid to his club, Tromso IL of the Tippeligaen.
Mo took that opportunity to say a few words about Sutton’s case, and it ain’t getting better. The coach said that he gets headaches every morning and has frequent ringing in his ears.
And if the pressure on Kenny wasn’t big enough, he’s likely to start against LA this Sunday, in which could be one of the most memorable matches in the history of the league if Beckham plays, even for a minute.
Personally, I’m glad he’s here. Monsalve showed promise, but not enough to earn a starting job just yet. Djekanovic has played extremely well since stepping in, but I don’t think Mo was convinced. Kenny has four caps with the national team, two of which he won with clean sheets. That said, he wasn’t a starter at Tromso, which says a fair deal.
Wait and see.
Maybe that should be my new motto.

Kenny actually has 5 (not 4) caps for Canada. According to this blog, anyway. I think the records the CSA keeps are a year or two out of date.

Yeah, well he was called up to five games but played in four. You’re only capped if you play a part, as far as I know.

the CSA is behind on everything…canada’s national team doesnt even have a team doctor and when asked about it the CSA said that they would discuss the matter at their next board meeting which is sometime this month. sutton said that if canada had had a team doctor he probably would have been healthy now because the doctor would know all his medical histroy and been able to treat him straight away rather than waiting 4 days before seeing a local Miami doctor who told him to rest for 4 days and then he’d be fine.
