Never mind Fowler, here’s Andy Welsh
By: Sam | March 1st, 2007
Yeah, it seems that Toronto FC is soon going to dethrone Manchester United as most beloved club amongst Englishmen. Undeniable truth: Sunderland (on loan to Leicester City) winger Andy Welsh is on trial for the good guys, Welsh would count as a youth international due to his tender age of one score and three years of age. Mo Johnston stated that the trial was “quite impressive” so far.
I mean, of course TFC has a bunch of forwards, but they also have a bunch of injuries, and with Abbe Ibrahim apparently having immigration troubles, we can always use a decent English striker, as far as I’m concerned. Welsh has scored seven goals in the Championship, since joining Stockport County in 2001.
Hours away from Toronto announcing its first roster, it’s something to ponder upon.
