New York 3 TFC 0: Who Needs Goals when you can Suck?

By: Sam | August 13th, 2007

red-bull.jpgBloody depressing. Let’s point out the bad:

-TFC’s defenders could not control the ball.
-TFC’s midfielders could not receive the ball without giving it away.
-TFC’s strikers could not touch the ball.
-TFC let the Red Bulls walk around without thinking to challenge in any way.
-TFC was bad at defending corner kicks.
-So on.

Let’s point out the good:

-Kenny Stamatopoulos looks like a pretty good keeper. None of the three goals were his fault in the slightest.

As reader figo suggests, maybe it’s time to not suck anymore. Fuck. Toronto hasn’t scored in five games. What happened to the Samuel and Lombardo that played against Los Angeles? Serious, man.

Oh, and Chris Pozniak, you twit, what the hell was that tackle? Thanks for getting yourself suspended.

I don’t want Mo to get fired, man. That’s exactly the instability we don’t need. Mo isn’t sucking, the players are. His change of formation against LA was brilliant, it made for plenty of opportunities and it was the players who couldn’t cash in. As for this game, well, the formation was less of a 4-5-1 and more of a 4-0-0. And the four weren’t great.

Maybe we do need a designated player. Someone that will at least score a goal.

Sorry for the lack of actual game recap, but I stopped watching after the third goal, and the match doesn’t deserve a proper recap.

Religious people wait for their god to come back to earth, Toronto fans are waiting for a goal. I’m an atheist, and I don’t know which’ll come first.

    ha, funny title.

I fell asleep waiting for the game start and I guess lucky for me I woke up just in time to catch the last minute or so. By the time I came out of the fog, it was just enough time to realize they were losing 3-0. I can’t comment much on it but I saw the highlights… Brutal. They need Cunningham, Danny D and Wynne back to have a any hope.

Fire Mo, hire a south american coach, and more south american players.

NO MO STAYS! i love mo! hes a great coach and this crap isnt his fault. ok now we cant go blaming this game on the forward(s) because in all fairness the ball barely ever left our end so for them to receive it was nearly impossible. so thats why we couldnt see the lombardo or samuel of the LA game. next the “football” lines on the field were annoying as hell!!! and the announcers were the shits. the guy couldnt say Toronto, Pozniak or Samuel. i think we gotta teach this guy to talk before he opens his mouth agian. it was totally disrespectful to not be able to say these things correctly. the game was crap. and so now lets move on. dichio will probably be back soon and same with wynne so hopefully that means we can start playing again instead of just faking it till we make it…. highlight of the game was when lombardo punched the guy in the stomach sneakily so the ref wouldnt see hahahahahah i was laughing soo hard! lombardo is officially my hero hahah..

Coming from the Red Bulls blog, I like what Mo has been doing. Had you Dichio and Cunningham, Welsh and the rest, the game would have been much tighter.

Kudos to Lombardo on that low blow . . . lol . . . you can read up on that on my page! ;)

Trust me Dave, I saw it. Lombardo’s like that, he’s young and undisciplined to say the least.
Sofia: And as for the announcers, I think Shep Messing is too smart a guy to be so blatantly biaised.
    Skillz: Hell nah.

I have an idea. Maple Leaf Entertainment, and the teachers pension fund (for those of you who don’t know, your old smelly teachers own TFC, along with the Raptors and Leafs etc), should approach Canada Immigration asap with this suggestion: Grant instant citizenship to any foreign immigrant applicant who can kick a soccer ball. One of the conditions of remaining in Canada is that they play for TFC on a three year no-salary contract. This would bring hordes of players, all of whom are better than what we witnessed on the pitch last weekend.

You know something’s wrong when figo breaks out the sarcasm. Apparently Welsh wants to leave. Good riddance to him, I say. But God how I hate the nationality bullshit rule.

that rule is so that teams dont turn into inter milan who are in the italian league and yet they have 3 italian players on their roster. and only one of them actually sees the field. i think its a good rule. yupp sam im with you later welsh have a nice life!

Welsh is not a bad player, most of the time. If he wants out it is because he does not like sitting on the bench while MO uses the reserve players. Perhaps we could get Beckham for Welsh, provided LA pays his salary.

Welsh says he wants out?! Where the hell does he want to go other than one of the most exciting teams in the league? Ridiculous.

Yeah, I don’t see a reason other than lack of playing time for Welsh wanting to leave, but seriously, the guy has no right foot whatsoever. He makes the runs, props to him for doing that, but can never make anything of them. And he stops running after sixty minutes. Who would we need to replace him, however?

Hey Hey Hey… Leave Inter out of this :) This is TFC issue…

Anyhow, first and foremost they need key players back from injury to play better as a team.

As for Andy Welsh, I never thought much of his ability. He may try but is not that great technically. Maybe that’s why MO doesn’t use him that much.

AS for who to bring in… I really hope with the wealth and riches of MLSE and the Teachers’ Pension Fund, they are willing to spend some cash to produce a winning product, unlike some other franchises they currently own and operate. They could afford to do a lot to bring in available players that are good. My worry is, with the popularity and financial success of the team they might not spend a dime more than they have to.

@ sofia: If you want an example of a foreigner-magnet club, look no further than Arsenal. Seriously, which English players do they have? Justin Hoyte?

LOL no worries I am used to people ripping Inter for their stranieri. Do I wish they had more Italians? Of course. Am I complaining that these Stranieri they have assembled are the strongest team in Serie A and are going to win the Scudetto again? Not at all!!!! I love the club regardless of who plays for them as long as they do well!!

So hopefully one day I could feel the same way about TFC!

Welsh is the 4th highest TFC player. He is a poor addition to the team.
MO needs to look beyond teams in the UK for help. Dichio is alright, but the others stink (Samuel: I know he is from Trinidad, but he played in the UK, where he stunk).
O’brien played in the MLS for a while, so he has already proven himself in North America.
MO needs to consider African, Korean, mainland European teams (real Italians, not the transplanted variety, aka Lombardo).
Some of the best EPL players are from Africa, they moved to that league from mid ranking European league squads who were desperate for the transfer cash.
Get rid of Welsh, and a few others. Drop Adu to the reserve squad (did anybody see him touch the ball against Chivas?) Spend the max allowed under the cap, and get a real player or two. In the MLS, one or two star players make the difference between winning, losing, and even scoring.

Not much on my mind right now, but it is not important. I have just been letting everything happen without me. I just do not have anything to say right now.
