River Plate is an A-team in South America (that really sucked last year).

But it’s a fact that they did play their reserves (or B-team) in a meaningless match (for them) last week against TFC.

TFC could not beat them says a lot about the MLS “A”-team.

When Montreal joins MLS, that will be TFC’s real rival. A rivalry with roots in both football and a history of social and political anomosities on both sides. The foolishness with Columbus is just ill feeling and friction because of incidents at a few matches.

I’ve always thought the Reds and Astros have had a pretty good rivalry, but I wouldn’t put it in the “greatest” rival category.

I love the fact that you refer to River Plate as “a B team from South America” . . . . ouch. Just don’t put Boca in the same category.

My pick for your worst rival? Montreal. No heat for MLS yet. But it will pick up.
