Real Salt Lake vs Toronto FC
result 2-1

Yes he let in two goals but he’s the only reason we didn’t loose 5-1. Blame it on the altitude, blame it on the heat, but in truth the defensive line really failed Sutton and the team. Sutton you’re still the man and with Dichio out you’re the best player we’ve got. Thanks for coming out tonight, giving it your all and saving us from a humilating defeat. I hope our defense kisses your ass tonight for saving theirs so many times. The first half was especially huge and the way you charged out and pulled the ball from the feet of Beckerman… Man that was balls!

The first goal was the result of another lazy effort from Valez. I think I have to suspend my chant for Valez for a game. Valez, you’re far from shit but damn you look lazy out there. If you got something on your mind deal with it, take some ADD medication, do something, but damn man FOCUS! Please come out and play an entire game and preferably with the same conviction you started here with. We believe in you, maybe you can try believing in yourself and stop fucking up so much…

2nd goal was all Julius James. I don’t even know what to say. James you were watching the ball instead of your man. I think you’re a solid defensive player and I’m happier knowing your defending for us than against us but you picked a bad time to let your inexperience show. Your college level defensive blunder not only cost us a point but also denied us a sliver of pride we may have been able to walk out with on a draw. All I can say is man, that was disappointing.

As you can tell I’m not really bothering with a game breakdown or a regular blog post. You can get the technical details somewhere else. This post is about something else. I wasn’t expecting much out of tonight’s match, nothing much has changed since that catastrophic game against Montreal which pretty much ripped the spirit right out of my body. With the absence of Edu and Wynne and the continued hole left by the absence Dichio’s sweet, giant, concussed head, it would be ridiculous to believe that we’d rise up and beat a team that’s riding the high of 1st place of the lowly Western division. So when Guevara sunk that awesome free kick into the top left(ish) corner it felt like we just scored the game winning goal. It was a beautiful free kick reminiscent of the goals we scored back in the glory days of May and June. It was the type of goal that made me feel that things were about to change for Toronto… I wasn’t prepared for was the fiasco that occurred less than 5 minutes later at the other end of the field. It felt just like Chicago (July 12) all over again. It doesn’t get an easier to accept those types of losses that’s for sure.

Some quick mentions:
- Ibrahim you’re looking good dude! Keep putting them on target, another will drop soon I feel it!
- Guevara, solid performance, thanks for giving us something back!!
- Robert… I’ve got nothing to say except watch Cunningham’s back because unless you step up you’ll hopefully be following him. I support my Reds but I don’t support individual players who don’t perform especially when they’re paid better than guys like Ibrahim who bust their balls for the team. I rather we spend the money on someone who shows us how bad they want to be a part of the best team and franchise in the MLS.

All and all, it was a shit game but under the circumstances, a good effort. Thanks Toronto I still stand proud and wait patiently for our day in the sun!

Til I Die y’all
