T-3 Days: Meet the captain (the foolish one, now)

By: Sam | April 4th, 2007

captains-armband.gifGoing into the home stretch before the season final-fricking-ly starts on April 7, I’ll be providing a daily look at what the team is looking like coming into the inaugral campaign. Today’s feature: A quick look at Toronto FC’s captain.

So yeah, I’ll be the one jumping off the bridge. Ronnie O’Brien, leader, great midfielder and presumably captain for the start of the season, is injured. Four to six weeks. And this ain’t no valiant saving-orphans-from-a-burning-building injury, either. O’Brien tore a ligament in his knee while conducting a “silly play” which earned him not a whole lot of respect from Mo.

So now that he probably won’t be captain now or for the rest of the season, my guess is either Jim Brennan, for his historic first player and homegrown talent stance with the team, or Alecko Eskandarian, who thoroughly impressed everyone (including Mo) during the preseason and is oh-so-cutely involved with Toronto FC’s community.

Well, I reckon this ain’t a very informative article, thanks to O’Brien’s stupidness. But I’ll try to find info on the new captaincy and O’Brien’s injury.

Tomorrow: Meet the roster

Tough break losing the captain before the season. Should be interesting to see who takes up the leadership role.
