T-6 Days: Meet the supporters
By: Sam | April 1st, 2007
Going into the home stretch before the season final-fricking-ly starts on April 7, I’ll be providing a daily look at what the team is looking like coming into the inaugral campaign. Today’s feature: A rundown of Toronto FC’s supporters groups.
Two main “ultra groups” make up the official cheering sections of BMO Field. The first, the Red Patch Boys, seem to be the happy-go-lucky-cheery-group-o’-guys type. Their name coming from a former Canadian army regiment (hm, I know), they announce loud and proud that they are going to make Sections 111-112, nicknamed “The Bunker” the most noisy and fun place in the league. I say count on it.
The second, the U-Sector, have been around for a longer period of time. Supporting the Toronto Lynx as well as the national team, these fellas are moving in with Toronto, and I can say I’m stoked for what they’ll bring. Having travelled a fair bit of distance to support the aforementionned teams, they’ve got experience in intimidating one side and encouraging the other to death.
For the moment, that’s our response to LA’s Riot Squad. For the moment, I say!

Of all the supporters groups (the legion is still my favorite
) I would have to say that the Red Patch Boys have done a great job. They are the closest to a Euro ultra group and will be a great addition to the MLS. I am just continually amazed at what TFC is doing and I hope that the rest of the league takes notice. I love the daily updates and can’t wait for April 7th, that is going to be one hectic game.
One question, how many TFC supporters are going to be coming to the home depot center??

Thanks for the encouragement dude-
As for the fans going to LA (or Carson rather)
I can’t say I know too much except that there will be barely any. Both groups are organizing parties at various pubs and clubhouses, and they never really had in mind to travel all around the continent. I just hope I see a few TFC jerseys in the crowd.Posted from

Thanks for the kind words, David. Personally I can’t wait to meet up with some of the other supporters from out of town and drink til we drop.
Of course, we’ll be merciless at the stadium with them and their team, but that’s only to be expected.
