TFC - Dynamo Preview

By: Colman | September 26th, 2008

Tomorrow marks Houston’s second visit to Toronto. The reigning MLS Champs will be looking to extend their lead atop the Western Conference, while TFC will be hoping to keep their faint playoff hopes alive. In the Reds’ short history, they have done surprisingly well against the Dynamo, beating them 1-0 at home in a rain soaked affair last May, and getting a point on the road in July. This year however, TFC was beaten 3-1 in the Lone Star State, and has not inspired any confidence entering tomorrow’s match.

John Carver will have an almost full squad at his disposal, with only Carlos Ruiz out due to a knee injury. His play so far has been absolutely shocking, so it will be with great pleasure that the fans will welcome back Danny Dichio to the starting lineup. Marco Velez is once again cleared to play following his red card vs. Chivas. Julius James is labouring with a hamstring injury, but appears good to go if he is needed. In fact, the only other absence (apart from Ruiz) is Carver himself, who finally managed to get himself suspended by MLS due to his outbursts over officiating. Here’s his likely starting XI:

Sutton - Wynne, Velez, Marshall, Brennan - Ricketts, Robinson, Guevara, Freeman - Barrett, Dichio

My brain is telling me not to expect much, since we’ve been crap since June and Houston is the best team in the league. My heart on the other hand is telling me that Dichio’s starting, and that there’s always hope when he’s on the field. I know that Jimmy B is the captain, and Robbo’s his assistant, but is there any question about who is this team’s leader on the field? It’s this man-monster right here. So I have a bit of hope.

In other news, we get to see Dero in Toronto, and yell at him to come home (he’s a Scarborough boy). He is one of my favourite players in this league, and the day he joins this franchise (we know he will at some point) I am going to the store and getting myself his jersey. So if TFC loses tomorrow, take some comfort in his chicken dance, and look forward to better days.

Come on you Reds!

Very articulate, muhdik. And it would be nice if all the homophobes of this world could stay in their mothers’ basements without spouting their crap on soccer blogs.

Actually the article is not homosexual - the article does not like other male articles.

And you only think the article is stupid because you don’t understand it. Go home little boy!
