TFC vs the White Cappers

By: nicholas | July 2nd, 2008

Hello TFC nation

It me nick dropping by, to keep the blog going until a suitable replacement comes along.

Yesterday the mighty TFC lost what i consider to be gimme game at BMO field against the Whitecaps, and to be honest it was night and day between the first and second half, in the first half we had bad passing, bad defense, bad running with the ball; if you can name it we were bad with it.

In the second half everything changed, The TFC players seemed to realize that the Canada Day holiday is only us regular folk and not for them player folk. The formation change and substitutions at half time were interesting, because it allowed Armada Guevara to become the central link between the defense and the attacking players and it pushed Jimmy Brennan up the field to make more attacking runs.

Overall Toronto was unlucky to lose the game but as John Carver said if the performance in the first half was the same as the second half, and they had lost the game, then he could have no complaints, but the first half was so devoid of any cohesion that the game was just disappointing.

Lineups

Vancouver Whitecaps — Jay Nolly, Omar Jarun, Jeff Clarke, Steve Kindel, Takashi Hirano (Diaz Kambere 66), Lyle Martin, Justin Moose, Alfredo Valente (Vincente Arze 74), Martin Nash, Nicholas Addlery, Eduardo Sebrango (Charles Gbeke 75).

Substitutes Not Used: Luca Bellisomo, Srdjan Djekanovic, Jason Jordan, Stefan Leslie

Toronto FC — Greg Sutton, Marvell Wynne, Tyrone Marshall, Marco Velez, Jim Brennan, Rohan Ricketts (Julius James 46), Maurice Edu, Carl Robinson, Laurent Robert (Jarrod Smith 46), Amado Guevara, Danny Dichio (Jeff Cunningham 46).

MR CARVER POST GAME REMARKS …. really interesting

I watched the game on CBC (why it wasn’t in HD, who knows!) and TFC had so much pressure in the 2nd half it was crazy! Whitecaps goalie made some nice stops. Close no goal on that offside call for Toronto. Good job Whitecaps on the win!
