TFC Weekend post
By: nicholas | May 25th, 2008So the game against DC was disappointing, but for every die hard fan that said that TFC got robbed against DC, one must look at the fact that:
1. DC won every 50/50 ball in the game.
2. Toronto was unable to keep possession for more than 3 or 4 passes.
3. Laurnet Robert was always going to sent off. ( come on, even the blind man in Egypt saw that coming.)
4. Maurice Edu has been a shell of his former self for the last couple of games ( i am starting to wonder about his confidence level at this point or is it his fatigue level)
5. The play of Rohan Ricketts has been less that spectacular ( he is not Andy Welsh bad, but fans are starting to think that )

Your 5 points are a perfect summary for the game. This was Robert’s worst game to date. He could not move the ball forward and usually gave it up as the worst possible time for a counter-attack against TFC.
I would add a 6th point. TFC forwards often quit on plays. Even Dichio has a hard time getting back to his feet if knocked off the ball. This time has to have a ‘never quit & keep running’ attitude if they want to make the playoffs.

Wynne is my favorite player but dude, why? The shove in the penalty area is just baffling. Even if Quaranta was in scoring position, Sutton might be able to deal with it. I’m more able to accept the goal off of Sutton’s dropped ball because he didn’t really have much change to punch it away.
It’s all these grass pitches, what a weird playing surface. (ok, it’s not a great joke, maybe a little?)

Ok the whole Welsh v Ricketts was bound to come up. Mr Joe here how i rate both players, ITS HOW THEY PLAY ON THE FIELD WHEN PLAYING FOR TFC, not any other TEAM .. ( you may be right that Welsh may be the better player skill wise but understand he was Utter Drosh while with the reds, he was beaten way too easily on the wing and lost the ball way too often when he had it. But i will say this he did show some signs of having quality and i personally believe that he left pre-maturely and was not able to really settle at the club.
