Toronto FC vs Chicago Fire Pre-game
By: Robert | July 12th, 2008CHICAGO FIRE vs. TORONTO FC
TOYOTA PARK, Chicago Ill.
(Bridgeview if you want to be all geographical)
Kick-off: 8:30 p.m. EST
Well after a couple of weeks of playing some extra-curricular football, the Reds are finally back to playing in the MLS. I love the friendlies and CONACACAF qualifier but damn I wish they put that shit in the off-season. Its distracting and dangerous, not to mention tiring for the players. Hopefully Carver has used the time to tweak the team after a dismal June of mediocre football.
Fortunately for us Chicago, winless in 5, has been struggling just as badly as we have and are tied with us for 4th place in the Eastern division. The Chicago/Toronto rivalry is a great one and I think we’re going to see an exciting game even with a slew of missing players (see list below). 3 points tonight would put us in 3rd place overall and hopefully prove to be a turning point in our season.
The line-up will proably be similar to what we saw against the Whitecaps. I’m doing a quick hail mary for Cunninham. Cunny, please prove my former comments wrong and put one (or two) in for us tonight!
Here’s the MIA report:
INJURY REPORT:
TORONTO FC - OUT: FW Danny Dichio (concussion) OUT: DF Todd Dunivant (ankle)
CHICAGO FIRE - OUT: FW Andy Herron (concussion); DF Dasan Robinson (R ankle sprain); OUT: FW Tomasz Frankowski (R quadriceps contusion);
Bakary Soumare is suspended for the Fire for yellow card accumulation
Edu and Robert are one card away from suspension for yelow card accumulation
For those of you heading to the Duke to watch the game, I’ll see you there for the rest, before kick-off raise a beer for the boys and sing a somg for the Reds!
Cheers!
