Toronto Til I Die

Toronto FC vs San Jose
Result: 0-0
Location: BMO Stadium
Attendance: 20,200
Time of the match: 1:53

I have to admit I wasn’t expecting much from yesterday’s match, but I was hoping for a little bit more than a draw against the rather lifeless San Jose Earthquakes. Not a lot more, just a little. Like Guevara not missing that penalty shot for example. Maybe I was expecting Ibrahim or Guevara to direct more than 3 out of the 11 shots on goal instead of above or beside it. But in hindsight, maybe I was asking too much. In truth maybe we’re all asking a bit too much from our team right now. We’re young, we’re growing, we’re figuring shit out and most importantly we’re progressing. If that’s all we can ask for right now than so be it.

Yesterday’s match galvanized everything that is wrong with the Reds these days. But anyone can sit here and talk about that. For me, I was satisfied with the way we played with the team we had. Everyone knows what are problems are, I hate to link to my own post, but fuck it, I’ve already pontificated about it so why discuss it again. I will say, I may have been wrong about Rosenlund. He played well. It was far from a brilliant performance, but it was a solid effort for his MLS debut.

I’m to going to do a game breakdown today, because there’s not much to say. We played a game of total domination. Yes, we should have walked away with 3 points but we didn’t. At least we’re not as bad a San Jose who, even with Huckerby, had one mediocre rally late in the game and only managed one rather pathetic shot on goal. Actually if Huckerby’s performance yesterday is any indication of things to come, I’m happy we let him go, we don’t really need another mediocre player, we’ve got enough under performers to replace such as Robert and Cunningham.

In part of keeping track of Referee Performance, I’m going to have to book Referee Paul Ward for being complete shit. Kick ‘em in the head, dig a hole and bury him, and bring on someone who knows the rules of the game… End of story.

I’ve got nothing more to say about this game. I was a bit disappointed at the result but I’m a supporter and that means I’ll stand tall and chant loudly for my Reds, not just when we’re sitting higher in the rankings but always, as long as Maple Leaf Entertainment gives the team the respect and resources to be the best it can be.

    cornercorner

I was at the game yesterday, along with Colman, and I have to say I missed something very important yesterday. When Ibrahim chipped the ball over the keeper and the ball was tapped in, it was called offside. However, last night I caught the highlights and they pointed out that the goal was in fact ONSIDE. I thought I would just point that out as another edge in the rant against the ref.
